The REFUGE OF HOPE is on 45 acres of land which has been dedicated to God. Our newly finished Multi-Purpose building contains a chapel, educational / job training facilities, an industrial size kitchen with dining room, a barber shop, an infirmary sick room, several office rooms, a prayer room, and a library / computer room.
The PURPOSE of the REFUGE OF HOPE
is to give the men a firm foundation of the Bible so new lives can be built. We offer a Hand of Hope, not a hand out. The REFUGE OF HOPE provides a temporary haven for men who have proven a desire to change their lives and are able to exit prison either by parole or completing their sentence.
The REFUGE OF HOPE offers male inmates the opportunity to enroll in a 9 month residential program where they are taught the Bible and practical life skills. They are given a chance to gain the confidence they need to return to neighborhoods, where they can be role models who help break the cycle of crime.
The REFUGE OF HOPE is qualified by the State of Georgia as a Safe-House and certified as a drug treatment center. The 9 month program focuses on Christian discipleship, education, and job training.
The NEED IS GREAT, because over 50,000 men are incarcerated in the state of Georgia. 70% have no support from family and friends. When they leave prison, they get a bus ticket and $25. Most have little education, no job and no place to go. More than 40% return to prison within the first year and over 80% return within 5 years.
